Cascamorto Piano Bar

Step inside Fergie's Pub, possibly Philadelphia's most authentic Irish pub, and you'll immediately feel like you have been transported from Market East to Downtown Dublin. North Star Bar

Besides being known for awesome shows, North Star Bar has an excellent selection of hard to find beer on tap, which only makes the music sound better. The stage is unusually high, making it easy to see the bands from anywhere in the main room. For those who aren't excited about the music, fire up the awesome jukebox and shoot some pool in a separate room. North Star also delivers delicious burgers, quesadillas and even calamari. Quality calamari served with garlic aioli in a dive bar—not too places in Philly can boast about that.

Ortlieb's Jazzhaus

Although Ortlieb's Jazzhaus in Philadelphia's Northern Liberties neighborhood looks like a complete dive from the outside, it is actually home to the best jazz in city. Tuesday nights are great for visiting Ortlieb's—Philly's best musicians come out to jam all night at this cozy club. When it's not jam night, notable jazz musicians including the drum legend Mickey Roker and tenor sax player Bootsie Barnes please crowds all night long. Ortlieb's Jazzhaus has an extensive menu featuring southern comfort food with a Cajun flair. The sweet potato fries are consistently delicious and go great with an ice-cold draught. Couples love to frequent Ortlieb's for exciting dates, and groups always have a great time relaxing to the best jazz in Philly.

The Khyber

The Khyber is Philadelphia's beloved dive bar meets live music club, conveniently located in Old City. The huge beer selection is what keeps most regulars coming back. There are dozens of different bottled beers and usually 10 on tap. Bands play downstairs for a cover nearly every night, but the upstairs level is always free of charge. The Khyber sometimes pulls nationally recognized acts, but mostly features local Philly bands. On Sundays, the upstairs bar has the best deal in the entire city: $10 all you can drink open bar. Awesome local music, tons of beer and an open bar deal, can you really beat that?

The Raven Lounge

There's always something going on at The Raven Lounge, located a short stroll from Rittenhouse Square. Open mic nights, live music, standup comedy and even art shows are featured at this Philly bar. Trocadero Theater

This one-time burlesque theater is now home to some of Philadelphia's best live music shows. The Trocadero Theater, or the Troc. for those in the know, is located in the heart of Philly's Chinatown. Nationally known acts frequent this funky club—everything from hip-hop acts to rock bands have performed on the Troc.'s stage. The small size of this venue makes for great views from nearly anywhere in the club. For those who want to make an evening of it, the Trocadero Theater's location inside of Chinatown is great for dinner before a show and drinks after. This Philadelphia live music club is a favorite among Philadelphia's true live music fans.

World Cafe Live

World Cafe Live boasts some of the best live acts to hit Philadelphia, and does so with class. The interior features upscale seating for dinner shows with tasty American fare.
