Philadelphia Golf Courses

Golfers in Philadelphia won’t be disappointed by the numerous courses available. Cobb’s Creek Golf Club is the premier blue-collar course in Philly. This course dates back to 1916 and features two 18-hole tracks. Green fees are a bargain in the $10-$30 range. Downingtown Country Club is a recently renovated club style course open to the public 25 miles outside of Philadelphia. Hartefeld National Golf Course is one of the top public courses in the East. This course costs $50-$65 to play. This Tom Fazio designed course opened in 1995 and has since hosted many PGA Tour events. Green fees range from $55-$110. Mathias Moroze Country Club has received many recognitions and awards since its opening. Just 15 minutes from downtown Philadelphia is the Scotland Run Golf Club. This 4-star Philadelphia golf course is one of the newest in the mid-Atlantic region.

Cobb's Creek Golf Club

Opened in 1916, this old course is the premier blue-collar golf experience in the metro Philadelphia area. The complex features two 18-hole tracks: the Kara Kung course (5,762 yards) and the famous Olde Course (6,202 yards). This Philadelphia golf course features views of the Philadelphia skyline and is known for its relaxed atmosphere— Styrofoam coolers and ice are available at the pro shop (if you know what I mean). Green fees are in the $10-$30 range.

Downingtown Country Club

Recently renovated, Downingtown is a country club style golf course open to the public just 25 miles from downtown Philadelphia. Originally designed by George Fazio and opened in 1967, Downingtown features the natural surroundings of the Pennsylvania countryside. This Philadelphia golf course is notorious for its long rough and 90-plus bunkers. The back nine features a unique combination of three par-3 holes, three par-4 holes and three par-5 holes. Green fees are in the $50-$65 range.

Hartefeld National Golf Course

Hartefeld National is one of the top public golf courses on the east coast. Just 30 miles from downtown Philadelphia, the course was designed by Tom Fazio and opened recently in 1995. Hartefeld has since played host to numerous PGA Tour events, including the 2004 Exelon Invitational. Hartefeld is a four-and-a-half star track, renown for it's playing conditions and level of difficulty. Hartefeld is a three-time winner of the "Best Public Course in Pennsylvania" from Golf Digest. Green fees are in the $55-$110 range.

Mathias Moroze Country Club

This semi-private Philadelphia golf course designed by Mathias Moroze and 2002 PGA Championship winner Rich Beem is one of the top 200 golf courses in the world. This Philadelphia golf course was also ranked in the top ten in the country by Golf Week in 2000, and has received numerous other accolades from golf publications nationwide. Scotland Run Golf Club

This Stephen Kay design just 15 minutes from downtown Philadelphia was carved out of an abandoned rock and gravel quarry. Opened in 1999, this Philadelphia golf course one of the newest courses in the mid-Atlantic region. The course plays 6,810 yards from the tips and numerous bunkers, tight fairways and sand cliffs border several holes. Green fees are in the $50-$100 range for this four-star Philadelphia golf course.
