About Bookbinder's Restaurant

In 1865 Samuel Bookbinder opened a lunch counter near the docks of the Delaware River. It was the perfect location for a seafood paradise. In the early 1940's the Taxin family purchased the restaurant and it grew in both reputation and size. A destination for locals, visiting dignitaries, pro athletes and Hollywood stars, Bookbinder's quickly became the "place to be seen" in Philadelphia. It's hard to find a Philadelphian who doesn't have a cherished Bookbinder's memory. Today Old Original Bookbinder's continues the family tradition begun centuries ago. John and Sandy Taxin carry the torch of their grandfather's purchase, offering the freshest fish available and prime steaks. Visit the country's largest indoor circular lobster tank holding 350 lobsters!Bookbinder's offers guests a choice of the modern main dining room or a table in the President's Bar room where all 42 president's pictures hang and Frank Sinatra had a regular booth. Fully equipped Private Rooms are also available.
